About The Coalition
Even prior to COVID-19, the experts who comprise The Elder Abuse Awareness Virtual Coalition were aware of and were each in their own way addressing issues of elder abuse that were affecting the safety and independence of far too many older adults, not only in New York State but in the nation at large.
Then the restrictions introduced in the early days of the pandemic took social isolation to entirely new levels. Suddenly seniors, disconnected from relied-upon family and government assistance, found themselves at an even greater risk of being abused and taken advantage of.
The Coalition was formed in April 2020 as way to foster public awareness about this growing crisis, and to provide those impacted by it with the knowledge and resources needed to deal with it.

Who Are We?
The Elder Abuse Awareness Virtual Coalition is made up of individuals from across the governmental, educational, and civilian spectrum, each of whom share a common concern for the members of our elder population.
